This Privacy Policy explains how ClassClicker (“ClassClicker,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, stores, and protects personal information when you access or use the ClassClicker website, applications, and services (the “Service”).
ClassClicker is operated from Japan. We are committed to handling personal information responsibly and in accordance with applicable privacy and data protection laws.
The information we collect depends on how you use ClassClicker. You may use certain features, including participation in a ClassClicker Class, without creating a ClassClicker Account.
When you create a ClassClicker Account, we collect information that you provide to us. This may include:

Passwords are not stored in plain text. ClassClicker stores password authentication information in a form designed to allow passwords to be verified securely without storing the original password.
Participants, including students, do not need to create or register a ClassClicker Account to participate in a ClassClicker Class.
A presenter may conduct a Class using either Anonymous Vote Mode or Title Vote Mode.
In Anonymous Vote Mode, participants join the Class without providing a participant identifier. The presenter cannot identify which participant submitted a particular response through the voting results provided by ClassClicker.
In Title Vote Mode, the presenter selects one type of participant identifier to be entered when participants join the Class. Depending on the presenter’s choice, this may be a first name, student ID, or another identifier selected by the presenter.
The participant also enters a temporary password of their own choosing. The temporary password is used only to allow the participant to reconnect to the same live Class as the same participant if their session is interrupted.
ClassClicker does not store this temporary participant password as a persistent account password or retain it after the live Class for future Classes. It is valid only for the relevant live Class.
In Title Vote Mode, the presenter conducting the Class can view participant identifiers and individual voting information, including individual responses and results, as part of the Class monitoring and analysis features.
Participants should use only the identifier requested by the presenter. Presenters should avoid requesting unnecessary personal information from participants.
When ClassClicker is used for a Class or voting session, we process information necessary to conduct the session and provide voting and result analysis features. Depending on the vote mode and features used, this may include votes, responses, response times, correctness information, attendance or participation status, and participant identifiers.
Individual participant identifiers and individual voting results are available only through the Class features provided to the presenter or other users authorized to access those results.
Participant identifiers used in a Class are not made public as part of Public Vote Results or Public Quiz Set Results.
ClassClicker allows registered users to publish certain content, including Quiz and Quiz Set content, and to make certain associated results publicly available.
When you publish content publicly, the following information associated with your ClassClicker Account may also be displayed publicly:
Other account information, including your email address, first name, last name, password information, and billing information, is not displayed publicly through these public content features.
Public Quiz, Quiz Set, Vote Results, and Quiz Set Results do not publicly display the participant identifiers used by participants in a Class, or individual participants’ responses or individual accuracy information.
Before publishing content, you should ensure that the content itself does not contain personal or confidential information that you do not intend to make public.
If you join or participate in a Team, certain account information may be available to authorized Team members or Team administrators where necessary to manage Team membership, permissions, and Team resources.
Team administrators may be able to view and manage information relating to Team membership and Team resources in accordance with the permissions provided by the Service.
Content assigned to or maintained as a Team resource may remain available to the Team after an individual user leaves the Team or stops using ClassClicker. Where supported by the Service, responsibility or ownership of Team resources may be reassigned to another authorized Team member.
We use personal information only as reasonably necessary to provide, operate, secure, maintain, and improve ClassClicker. This includes using information to:

Paid ClassClicker subscriptions are sold and processed through Paddle, which acts as the Merchant of Record for subscription transactions.
When you purchase or manage a paid subscription, Paddle collects and processes information necessary to complete and administer the transaction, including payment, customer, billing, tax, and transaction information. Paddle processes this information in accordance with its own privacy policy.
ClassClicker receives information from Paddle that is necessary to administer your ClassClicker subscription. This may include Paddle customer and subscription identifiers, purchased plan information, transaction information, payment status, amounts, currency, and subscription renewal or cancellation information.
ClassClicker does not directly collect or store your full payment card details. Payment card information entered during checkout is handled by Paddle and its payment providers.
ClassClicker uses cookies and similar browser technologies only where necessary to provide, secure, and operate the Service. For example, cookies are used to maintain authenticated sessions and other information required for ClassClicker features to function correctly.
ClassClicker does not use cookies for third-party advertising or behavioral advertising and does not use Google Analytics, Google Ads, or Meta Pixel.
Your browser may allow you to block or delete cookies. However, disabling cookies that are necessary for authentication or Service functionality may prevent ClassClicker from working correctly.
We use third-party service providers where necessary to operate ClassClicker. These providers may provide cloud infrastructure, hosting, data storage, email delivery, payment processing, security, monitoring, or other technical services.
Our service providers include Amazon Web Services (AWS) for cloud infrastructure and Paddle for subscription billing and payments.
Service providers may process personal information only as necessary for the services they provide to us or, where they act independently, in accordance with their own legal obligations and privacy policies.

Temporary passwords entered by participants when joining a Class in Title Vote Mode are used only for the relevant live Class and are not retained as persistent ClassClicker account passwords.
Some information may remain after an individual account is deleted where retention is required by law, reasonably necessary for security or recordkeeping, or necessary to preserve Team resources that are intended to remain available to the Team.
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration, or disclosure.
However, no internet service or method of electronic storage or transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure. Registered users are also responsible for protecting their account credentials and using the Service securely.
ClassClicker is operated from Japan. Personal information processed through ClassClicker may be transferred to, stored in, and processed in the United States, where our cloud infrastructure is located, as well as in other countries where our service providers operate.
Privacy and data protection laws in those countries may differ from those in your country of residence. Where required by applicable law, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers of personal information.

ClassClicker is designed for use in educational environments, but students do not need to create a ClassClicker Account to participate in a ClassClicker Class.
We designed account-free Class participation to allow teachers and other presenters to conduct Classes without requiring participants to register personal ClassClicker Accounts.
In Anonymous Vote Mode, participants are not asked to provide a participant identifier. In Title Vote Mode, only the participant identifier selected by the presenter and information necessary to participate in the Class are requested.
Children under 13 should not create their own ClassClicker Account. Children under 13 may participate in a ClassClicker Class without creating an account when their teacher, school, parent, or other responsible adult determines that such participation is appropriate.
If we learn that a child under 13 has created a ClassClicker Account and provided personal information without authorization required by applicable law, we may take steps to restrict or delete the account and associated personal information as appropriate.
Teachers, schools, organizations, and other presenters using ClassClicker with students are responsible for selecting appropriate participant identifiers and for complying with applicable institutional policies and legal requirements concerning their students.
Presenters should not request unnecessary personal or sensitive information from students through participant identifiers, quizzes, or other Class content.
If you are a parent, guardian, school representative, or other responsible person and believe that personal information relating to a child has been processed inappropriately through ClassClicker, please contact us so that we can review the matter.
ClassClicker may contain links to websites or services operated by third parties. This Privacy Policy does not apply to the privacy practices of third parties that operate independently from ClassClicker.
